held the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

Second
Annual Black Dirt Feast
The Pine Island Chamber of Commerce will again hold it's fabulous
al fresco Black Dirt Feast to showcase the produce from local farms
and the award-winning chefs who utilize them. Each year the proceeds
from the Black Dirt Feast benefit the local community.
This year's Second Annual Black Dirty feast will be held on Tuesday,
July 27, at Scheuermann Farms, Pine Island. Last year's Feast was
sold out, so reserve tickets ($90 a head) early by calling Sue Wilk

Until further notice all meetings will be held at 792 County
Rte 1, at the intersection with Liberty Corners Road, in pristine
premises next to Green Valley Tack. (This space
has has been generously loaned to the Chamber by former Chamber
President Peter Groenendaal while he searches for a permanent
tenant for the site.)
Upcoming meetings will be held at 7.30 PM, on the Third
Tuesday of every Month.

Winners in “Art In Agriculture”
Photo Contest
A dramatic panorama of onions in the black dirt with Mount Adam
and Mount Eve in the background, taken by retired police captain
Robert Breese of Pine Island, won the popular vote in the “Art
in Agriculture” photo contest run by the Pine Island Chamber of
Commerce. About 60 photographs of the black dirt region were submitted
by local photographers for the contest, held during Summer Fest
last weekend. Summer Fest was organized by the PLAV (Post 16)
and the Pine Island Fire Department.

at the heart of the hamlet from Grey to Green
* Filling tubs with flowers for summer beautification
* Reinstalling sponsored banners
* Seeding the roadsides with wildflowers
* Producing beautiful “ART IN AGRICULTURE” post cards
* Publishing a new newsletter to keep Pine Island informed
* Planning a New Member/New Business Mixer
* Selling tickets to a Hudson River Sail-Away in the Summer
* Planning the Annual Social in October
* Installing sparkling holiday lights and decorations
* Giving “Pride in Pine Island” awards for beautification efforts
* Organizing the annual Onion Eating Contest
* Putting on the annual Pumpkin Festival in the Pine Island Park
* Planning the fabulous al fresco Black Dirt Feast,
uniting local produce with outstanding chefs
